Who are you?
I’m a passionate people leader who works in Retail Tech in the DevOps space specializing in Data and ML Operations. I spent the last decade working at the intersection of data science, machine learning, DevOps and data engineering across advertising media, sales and retail sectors. Scaling teams, and workflow optimizations are my strongest skills. I’m very passionate about the dataOps philosophy as a fundamental Infrastructure pillar enabling all other data operations across the company.
Your hobbies?
I enjoy everything from visiting national parks to gardening, cooking. fast cars, freefalling, and volunteering with various organizations. I enjoy teaching meditation and yoga retreats the most, especially in prisons and at universities and helping people smile and live stress-free lives. I’m blessed to be able to support numerous social causes I’m very passionate about, including animal welfare and education for the less disadvantaged children.
What did you want to be when you were a kid?
I wanted to be an astronaut doing intergalactic travel.
What led you to a career in tech?
It just happened. I did not plan for it.
Do you remember your first open source contribution?
It was a commit to the Jenkins project from several years ago, and before that I would contribute via datafordemocracy (now retired).
How did you get involved in the Continuous Delivery Foundation?
I used to manage my company’s Jenkins instance in a previous role and that was my first interaction. The DataOps awareness initiative was the courtesy of my boss.
Tell us about the thing you’re most proud of and why?
I’m proud of helping build a remote-controlled drip irrigation systems for use in electricity starved regions to help farmers.
What is your #1 tip for getting involved in the community?
Find something that bugs you the most about a product, and contribute towards making that fix.
