New Elected Governing Board Chair: Stephen Chin, JFrog

By December 14, 2020Announcement, Blog

This week, Stephen Chin was elected as the new Governing Board Chair of the Continuous Delivery Foundation. He first joined the Governing Board in June 2020 and now succeeds the role from Tracy Miranda, who became Executive Director of the CDF in September 2020.

Stephen brings vast open-source experience to his new role through contribution, collaboration, and developer advocacy. This background brings an invaluable understanding that will help Chin when counseling the board, guiding open-source projects and supporting the Continuous Delivery Foundation’s goal to improve the world’s capacity to deliver software with security and speed.

Stephen Chin said,

If the need for continuous delivery was not already evident, 2020 and the move to online *everything* has made CD an essential part of every company’s digital transformation strategy. As an early DevOps adopter with a decade of experience in growing the world’s largest developer communities, I see tremendous potential in the vibrant community and projects that the CD Foundation supports. My prediction is that 2021 will be the year of hybrid/multi-cloud as organizations with a distributed workforce and large-scale environments need to support DevOps tooling and patterns that are agnostic to stack, technology, infrastructure, and Geo-location access. Furthermore, the continued adoption of cloud-native applications, microservices architectures, and the exponential growth in Edge infrastructure and IoT will evolve our CI/CD patterns and reference architecture to enable enterprises to address the new challenges of DevOps at scale for IoT/Edge and cloud-native delivery — from network utilization, security, distribution, and update speed perspectives.

The CD Foundation Governing Board sets the strategic direction and budget in support of Continuous Delivery open source initiatives. The full charter of the Governing Board is available here.

“Stephen brings a wealth of experience with open source and developer communities to the role of Chair of the Governing Board,” said Tracy Miranda, Continuous Delivery Foundation Executive Director. “I look forward to working closely with Stephen to realize the exciting CDF plans for 2021.”
