SUMMARY:Spinnaker with Jenkins: The Butler Sets Sail on the Open Seas
DESCRIPTION:When: Mar 17\, 2021 10:00 AM Pacific Time (US and Canada) \nTopic: Spinnaker with Jenkins: The Butler Sets Sail on the Open Seas \nPresented By: Srinivas Kambhampati \nDescription: Jenkins is the most popular Continuous Integration (CI) tool in the world\, and many people have tried to extend Jenkins to handle Continuous Delivery. But Jenkins was not designed to deploy changes – especially at scale. Learn how to extend Jenkins with Spinnaker – using both tools for what they do best. Spinnaker solves the biggest challenges you’ll encounter when using Jenkins for CD. \n\n\n\nAvoid a scripting nightmare\nSpinnaker replaces Jenkins scripts to eliminate the cost of maintaining custom code\nRepeal the plug-in tax\nEliminate the extensive management of plugins you need when you use Jenkins to deploy at scale\nCreate visibility\nEasily determine the overall health of your delivery process rather than digging through logs\nAutomate approvals\nUse machine learning to determine the risk of moving a change into production\n\n\n\nRegister in advance for this webinar: https://zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_0aF7oa1fQe-p-stnMnqXLw

SUMMARY:The Goldilocks Problem of Software Delivery
DESCRIPTION:When: Mar 4\, 2021 09:00 AM Pacific Time (US and Canada) \nTopic: The Goldilocks Problem of Software Delivery \nPresented by: Anders Wallgren \nDescription: Over the last 15 years\, organizations have had difficulty with the entire software delivery process\, but two artifacts in particular became a recurring problem. The problem stems from the Goldilocks principle: one of these artifacts is much too big to overcome efficiently\, and one of them is much too small to make a significant impact\, so we need to find the one that is just right. So what artifact is “just right?” As the user\, what we really care about are the Features: the stuff we use and interact with all the time to make our daily lives better. However\, the systems we have today haven’t advanced to the point where software features are the nearest proxy for customer value. In other words\, the feature must be at the forefront of the UI. In this talk\, I will share why features are the proxy for value and explore the different levels of abstraction for the “just right” aspect of a Feature in order to shift people’s mindset from thinking in terms of Builds or Releases\, to thinking in terms of the customer and business value. I will share tactics to address the Goldilocks problem and how to have these discussions at the right level of the software in order to make prioritizations\, decisions\, and discoveries. What attendees will learn: \n\n\n\nA different perspective about software delivery\, which will help them make better decisions about which features to pursue and builds/releases to postpone.\nLearn why features are the future and how they are the perfect middle-ground between individual builds and major releases.\nHow to ultimately break free from the Goldilocks problem of software delivery.\n\n\n\nRegister in advance for this webinar: https://zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_xUxmQuklSDal14_pIdDR2w

SUMMARY:DevOps 101: A History of Package Management
DESCRIPTION:When: Feb 25\, 2021 09:00 AM Pacific Time (US and Canada) \nTopic: DevOps 101: A History of Package Management \nPresented By: Kat Cosgrove \nDescription: Sometimes\, it feels like DevOps has been around forever. Sometimes it feels like it’s brand new. The truth is somewhere in the middle — we’ve had pieces of it for a very long time\, and the term itself has existed for around a decade\, but the exact way we implement it has changed quite a bit over the years. Continuous Integration has been around since the 90s\, but it isn’t the same today as it was when Grady Booch first coined the term in 1991. Package management has changed a lot\, too\, and having context for the history of it not only helps us to see how far we’ve come\, but makes it easier for new people to adapt. Join me on a journey through time\, from package management as it began to what it looks like today. \nRegister in advance for this webinar: https://zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_1L2q7zIyRb2j0lF_6_glEQ

SUMMARY:Member Meetup: GitOps with Rancher Continuous Delivery
DESCRIPTION:Meetup Details:\n\nRegister: https://info.rancher.com/online-meetup-november2020\nDate: Wednesday\, November 11\, 2020\nTime: 4:00 PM – 5:00 PM US Eastern Time (1:00 PM – 2:00 PM US Pacific Time) \n\nDescription: As the number of clusters under management increase\, application owners and cluster operators need a programmatic way to manage deploying to their clusters. Rancher Continuous Delivery allows an administrator to create groups of clusters and link them to Git repositories. This means an application owner only ever needs access to the Git repository and not the management cluster. Deployment manifests can be defined in Helm\, Kustomize or K8s yaml files and can be tailored based on attributes of the target clusters. \nIn this meetup\, we will look at how to manage GitOps at scale with the new Rancher Continuous Delivery feature powered by Fleet. We will walk through getting started with Rancher Continuous Delivery and provide examples of how to leverage this powerful new tool in Rancher 2.5. \nPlanned Agenda: \n\nAn overview of Rancher Continuous Delivery\nHow to configure cluster groups and tie them to Git repositories\nHow to manage deployments on the local cluster\nHow to deploy an application across multiple clusters

SUMMARY:From Harness: Cloud Cost 101 Webinar
DESCRIPTION:Leveraging public cloud infrastructure for personal or enterprise projects are commonplace today. Even if turning off every single instance for example in a personal account\, you might get some sort of monthly bill from a public cloud provider due to a missed piece of minuscule infrastructure. At the scale of enterprise the allure of agile and elastic infrastructure comes at a cost. The problem that you get a surprise bill in your personal account is exacerbated at the scale that enterprises consume cloud resources. Join your buds at Harness as we discuss common cloud costs myths and what you are actually paying for.

The current list can be found on the UI / UX hackfest event page\, this list will be finalized by the beginning of the hackfest. You are welcome to propose your own projects within the User Experience theme. \n\n\nDuring the event\, we will organize online meetups and ad-hoc training sessions in different timezones. All these sessions will be recorded and shared on our YouTube channel. There are no mandatory sessions you must attend\, you are welcome to join ones remotely or watch the recordings. After the event we will invite participants to demo their projects at online meetings or recorded sessions. \n\n\n\n\nRegistration\n\n\n \n\n\nP.S: Note that the registration form has a question top 3 things we could change in Jenkins to improve your user experience.
