Day Zero of cdCon dedicated to Spinnaker topics; Spinnaker track continues as part of main cdCon schedule

SAN FRANCISCO, Mar 2, 2021 – The Continuous Delivery Foundation (CDF), the open-source software foundation that seeks to improve the world’s capacity to deliver software with security and speed, today announced Spinnaker Summit will be co-located with the CD Foundation’s cdCon. cdCon will be fully virtual and held June 23 – 24, 2021.

Registration for cdCon is free. Attendees need to add Spinnaker Summit registration as part of registering for cdCon.

The fifth annual Spinnaker Summit brings together a thriving global community of software collaborators. Spinnaker, an open-source, multi-cloud continuous delivery platform, has released hundreds of thousands of changes into production at Netflix and many other industry-leading companies like Adobe, Airbnb, Cisco, Grubhub, The Home Depot, JPMorgan Chase, Salesforce, Sony PlayStation, and Target.

CD Foundation and Spinnaker are committed to bringing technology and end-user communities together from around the globe and making it possible for new people to discover Spinnaker, fostering greater collaboration and growth. In particular, the CD Foundation supports organizations focused on tackling the problems of diversity and inclusion. cdCon is committed to helping fundraise on behalf of Black Girls Code, She Code Africa, and Women Who Code. Donations to these important groups are possible during registration.

“This new format for Spinnaker Summit will nicely focus on Spinnaker topics on Day Zero, and then have a clear track for Spinnaker throughout the event. Spinnaker is showing excellent technical and community growth, and co-locating the Spinnaker Summit during cdCon is a great platform for communications, networking and education,” said Michael Galloway, CD Foundation Governing Board member and Engineering Manager at Netflix. “I can’t wait to attend myself and interact with people I’ve known for many years as well as newcomers. It’s this combination that makes Spinnaker Summit a can’t miss event.”

“There’s so much energy and excitement in the Spinnaker community this year. Co-locating with cdCon is a natural progression for Spinnaker and provides an excellent platform for networking and education,” said Rosalind Benoit, Director of Community at Armory and Chair of CD Foundation Outreach Committee. “One of the silver linings of a virtual event is lower attendance cost and greater access for more people. We’ll be taking full advantage of this to connect with more people and expand the community.”

“CD Foundation has explicitly set out to unite the many different continuous delivery communities and drive collaboration. cdCon is a real cornerstone of these efforts, and the progress made at past events has been nothing short of incredible. We are expecting the same level of fun, high-energy events and useful networking this year as well,” said Tracy Miranda, Continuous Delivery Foundation Executive Director. “We’re excited to see the cross-pollination of our communities. It’s amazing how much can be accomplished by working together.”

About cdCon (June 23-24, 2021)

Join Continuous Delivery leaders, industry icons, practitioners, and open source developers for a two-day virtual experience as we improve the world’s capacity to deliver software with security and speed. cdCon is the annual event by the Continuous Delivery Foundation that brings together technology teams, enterprise leadership and open source communities to drive the future of software delivery.

This year’s sessions are designed for 3 different types of audiences:

  • Technology Teams: geared towards application developers, infra folks, DevOps engineers, security professionals, testers and any other practitioners involved with delivering software.
  • Enterprise Leadership: for senior leaders and decision-makers from organizations interested in measuring DevOps, scaling, transformation, security, FinOps, and developer productivity.
  • Open Source Communities: tailored for open-source core contributors and maintainers running and growing CDF projects and special interest groups, as well as folks looking to get involved with open source for the first time. This includes Jenkins, Spinnaker, Tekton, Jenkins X and other CDF communities.

cdCon is a chance for our global community to come together to meet peers, share best practices and ideas, learn from each other and hear about the latest trends in software delivery.
